BSE Shares Rally 7% on Policy Optimism and Strong Technicals

Introduction
BSE Limited witnessed a strong rebound on Friday as its share price jumped nearly 7%, breaking a two-day losing streak. The surge came amid heavy buying volumes, pushing the stock up to ₹2,625.00 apiece on the National Stock Exchange (NSE).
BSE Defies Broader Market Weakness
Interestingly, BSE’s rally came even as the broader Indian stock market faced bearish pressure. Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty 50 traded in the red, weighed down by weak global cues. Despite this, investor sentiment for BSE remained upbeat, driving notable gains in the stock.
Policy Comments Boost Investor Confidence
The upward momentum in BSE shares followed positive remarks from Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey regarding the Futures & Options (F&O) segment. Their statements provided reassurance to market participants about the continuity and regulation of derivatives trading.
SEBI Chairman’s Clarification on Weekly F&O Expiry
At the CNBC-TV18 Global Leadership Summit, SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey clarified that the weekly F&O expiry remains active and operational. “Our approach to F&O will have to be calibrated and data-based. The certainty currently is that weekly F&O is on and it is working. Any further steps will be preceded by a consultation paper,” he stated. His remarks dispelled speculation of regulatory tightening in the segment.
Finance Minister Emphasizes Investor Responsibility
On Thursday, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman affirmed that the government would not close the door on the F&O market. Speaking at the 12th SBI Banking and Economics Conclave 2025, she said, “The government is here to remove the roadblocks and work on them. It is investors’ responsibility to understand risks.” Her balanced stance further boosted confidence in the trading community.
Technical Outlook: Bullish Signals Emerge
According to Anshul Jain, Head of Research at Lakshmishree Investments, BSE’s price action demonstrates resilience, having defended its key weekly support at ₹2,385 and forming a bullish hammer on the weekly chart. “The current week’s follow-through move reinforces the positive momentum, with an initial target of ₹2,738 in sight. Sustained price action above recent highs could attract renewed participation, though volume confirmation is crucial,” he explained.
Performance Snapshot: Multibagger Returns Over Five Years
BSE shares have delivered stellar returns across time frames. The stock is up 16% over the past month, 18% in the last six months, and a remarkable 44% year-to-date. Over the past one year, BSE has gained 60%, and over a five-year period, it has delivered an astounding multibagger return of 4,562%. As of 1:35 PM, BSE share price was trading 6.39% higher at ₹2,612.50 apiece on the NSE.
Conclusion
BSE’s latest surge underscores investor optimism backed by policy reassurance and strong technical indicators. As the exchange continues to demonstrate robust performance, sustained momentum above key resistance levels could fuel further gains in the near term.
